Press release on the inauguration of an exhibition of young Azerbaijani artists “Art for Cultural Diplomacy, Azerbaijan – Where the East and the West meet”
United Nations Headquarters, New York, 23 March 2026
On 23 March 2026, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United Nations, in partnership with the Social and Psychological Rehabilitation Centre of the Youth – “Dirchelish” (Revival), inaugurated an exhibition of young Azerbaijani artists “Art for Cultural Diplomacy, Azerbaijan – Where the East and the West meet” at United Nations Headquarters in New York.
The event was held on the occasion of the International Day of Novruz established by General Assembly resolution 64/253 of 23 February 2010.
Welcoming diplomats, UN officials and guests attending the exhibition, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the UN, Ambassador Tofig F. Musayev, emphasized the importance of Novruz as a celebration deeply rooted in the values of peace, mutual understanding, and cultural diversity, and serving as a powerful reminder of the role of culture in fostering unity and dialogue among peoples.
Certificates were presented to young artists whose paintings were displayed at the exhibition.
The candidate of Azerbaijan to the Committee on the Rights of the Child, Mr. Farid Adilov, also participated in the opening ceremony of the exhibition and presented his vision on the future work of the Committee.
Traditional Novruz culinary delights were served following the opening ceremony.
The exhibition will remain on display at UN Headquarters through 27 March 2026.
